About
Hello ! This blog is all about:
1. The joy of great grub
Food that tickles the tastebuds but is healthy too
2. Weight loss and weight maintainence
Ideas that are tailored to the difficult unique challenges that mums face: e are surrounded by food and cooking all the time and needing to feed active, growing children but not eat everything they eat and more.
3. Eating out without pigging out
I love, love , love to eat out. No washing up, you see. But if I pig out every time I eat out then all my good works will be undone. So what can I eat?
Ah, the trials and tribulations of feeding your family at the same time as trying to watch your weight.
I find it all bloody hard!
Whether you’re aiming to lose a bit of weight or simply not to put on any, I hope you’ll find ideas, information and inspiration here.
I hope I will too, I need some!
I’m totally not an expert on cooking, food, weight loss or anything… but I need to learn more as I have five hungry mouths to feed as well as my own hungry mouth that needs to eat a bit less.
If there’s one thing I am good at, it’s finding useful things out and then spreading the word. The books I’ve written have been all about that, and this blog is too.
Expect experts!
More About Me
I’m Seana Smith, and I love to travel, to eat and to write.
I’m the boss mum in a family of six, living in the north of Sydney. Before the kids were born, I was a TV producer and freelance writer. Since my eldest was born 15 years ago, I’ve worked my fingers to the bone written and co-written three books, in between producing the four kids.
My author blog is over here. That’s my travel blog.
This is my food blog.
2012 is My Year of Cooking. But I need to edge off a few kilos and NOT put them back on. Harder than it sounds!
More About The Family
The most pertinent thing about my family is that they are all slender and muscly, except me!
I’m the one who spends most time around food, yet I need it the least. It’s all topsy turvy!
Giant Teen15 is a huge eater, he plays rugby league and the bagpipes and both require him to eat mountains of grub.
Dexbox is 12 and quite fussy, but wily, some early signs of cooking ability; if only one could cook on Xbox.
Rusty Rocket charges around like a maniac, knocking things flying in his wake. That’s typical for an almost-6 boy, isn’t it?
Minnie the Minx, twin to Rusty Rocket, she’s all pink and ribbons, but is a match for her brothers in every way.
My International Man of Mystery, my dear de facto hubby is a strict veggie and also very fussy, doesn’t like many vegetables. Harumph. He has an odd habit of disappearing to the dodgiest locations on the planet. Whoosh, and he’s off!

Please tell me that I’m not the only mum with this dilemma!

Great blog! Love the design!
I’m glad we found each other, we’ll be able to exchange tips going forward!
You are a winner of my Skechers competition btw! Congratulations! I’ve sent you an email with more details!
Hey Seana! You are a busy little bee! 2012 is IT for me too and I’m so getting your dilemma! Have a family Vietnamese/Chinese wedding to attend in August where I will be the only 173cm tall Westerner (whose had 3 children…) so need to look as good as I can for those photos!!!!! My experiment at the moment is to juice fruit and veges instead of eating lunch for me. I usually am pretty uninspired at lunchtimes for myself anyway so now I’m juicing some really yummy juices. Two benefits.1. Am not really feeling like I’m cutting out a meal (am hopeless at diets), 2. Am actually adding to my nutrient intake (I usually leave the fruit and vegies fo rthe children and deny myself and have started to realise that I am not getting MY daily requirement of fruit and vegies so this is a great way of doing it!) Plus my juicer gets to come out of the dark dusty cupboard and get a work out!
Now all I need to do is fit in some exercise!!!!!
Good luck with your ‘diet’!
Love
