Our lovely American au pair Bethany made a pumpkin pie recently. She says she’s always use canned pie filling before, but she Googled a recipe and set off to buy a pumpkin and a pie base.

The resulting pie was scrumptious.

But I know all that pastry just isn’t for me.

The kids can get tore in and run it off in a few nano-seconds, but not me.

So I just had a slice and then set to making little pots of pumpkin with all the pie mixture which was left over.

It was sensational!

Outrageous, I’m telling you!

Find the lovely recipe here.

I’m a firm believer in puddings in little pots.

Tasty and cute and well worth every mouthful.

Moderation in a pot!

Are you a little pots of pudding person too?

Well things have changed! I made your kiddies pumpkin pie once and they bloomin’ well refused to eat it – claiming that you can’t have a vegetable for dessert. As you know, we still make jokes about me making broccoli ice-cream and cabbage cake. Hrumphh. What does this Bethany girl have that I don’t??

Hello Katie!! I think that she’d had the great benefit of the kids growing up a bit. Christian ate almost a whole pie when B made one again last week.

Please make another… and of course a lovely batch of the broccoli ice cream!

Seana, the link to your other blog from the banner on the right hand side column is broken. You’ve missed the “.” after www. You may want to fix it to increase your traffic.

What fun having a bit of cross cultural exchange. I wonder did Bethany prefer the fresh, as opposed to the ‘out of a can’ filling?

Well, she just said she prefers the one she made here. Bethany went to the States over Xmas and made one out of the can – not so good, she reports.
