Eating Out Without Pigging Out – Farewell White Rice

Tofu and noodles

Oh, I do love a meal out and there have been too few of them recently.

Yes, it’s the food but it’s also the lack of work I love, no washing up, no shopping/cooking.

Just the change in routine does me good.

And at a Thai in January, I realised that I haven’t eaten rice for a while.

And I’ve got no intentions.

Not that rice is bad, it does have some minerals and it gives you energy.

But I just don’t need it. The kids can have mine.

At first I used to feel a bit embarrassed about just hoeing into the main meals, but I’ve got over myself.

Does anyone fancy a Thai?

Cos I do.

Will you be eating a great big pile of rice?

I think we all love rice, its a staple in our household, I tend not to choose rice on the menu when eating out. Its very filling and the hunger comes back soon. When dining out and before booking I always like to see the menu online first.

I’d like to know about brown basmati too. Rice is nice for mopping up the sauce

Over the past few weeks I’ve rekindled my love affair with stir fries courtesy of Michelle Bridges cookbooks in prepartion for starting the 12 Week Body Transformation this Monday . We’ve been a rice-free zone and its actually been good. I don’t miss it at all. Hadn’t considered the option of not ordering rice when out at a restaurant but I like it – you’re onto something Mrs Smith!

I do eat rice, but always brown, preferably basmati and after advice from an Ayurvedic doctor I only have a handful, the amount that would fit in my cupped hand, cooked that is. Works for me. X
